Blog: Music is my coffee

Music is my coffee
Adventures, reflexions and thoughts of Mathieu Oliveira, somewhere in the world where good croissants are not always easy to find.

Two hundred eighty four hours, spent working. That may just be my new record, and if not it's probably very close. Like many other months, I did not see this one fly by.. possibly because I worked 184 regular hours to which I had to add 100 hours spent working overtime. Conclusion? I've had less time to clean my apartment, less time for business emails, less time to enjoy social life, less time to sleep and less time to eat well (which would explain the accumulation of dust in the apartment, the rare emails I typed, the black marks below my eyes and why my pants don't fit as well anymore.. I've lost weight (as if I need it) and unfortunately I feel it will be quite hard to gain it back, especially in China).

There are so many things I need to do in the next few days, I know the month of June will simply be gone with the wind. And honestly, all I really want and need now is some time to rest and relax.

And perhaps go somewhere, on vacation.

It's 6h55 in the morning, I'm having breakfast and waiting for my browser to open a live video news stream back from Canada. In the next few minutes, I'll get ready to go to work and by 7h30 I'll catch our customer's bus, filled with many other foreigners, and head to the jobsite.

As you can see, I do not have time to write much now although I can let you know that I'm alive and well. Past several weeks have been quite hectic, working overtime most of the time, almost seven days a week every week. Things are getting a little better and after taking some time to rest, it's time to enjoy social life again. Matter of fact, yesterday called for a night out in mainland China, came back from the city's biggest club in the morning hours. Plenty of water, few hours of sleep and I'm back on my feet, ready for work. It's like university! Although I can't decide to skip class..

Thank you to everyone who wrote lately, your words have brought a relaxing touch to weeks of intense work and social isolation. I'm quite late in giving replies, but I'm making it this week's personal goal to catch-up on my personal emails. Stay tuned!
